2024 Charman Trophy
The Charman Trophy is competed for annually by juniors from all the Clubs in East Auckland. The Trophy is in memory of local tennis personality Joy Charman who committed many years to tennis and tennis administration at local, regional and national level.
“Joy was particularly passionate about junior tennis and wanted to create this tournament to promote tennis within our local community,” Pakuranga Tennis Club’s Paul Tibbutt said. Joy and husband Jack were both past presidents of the Pakuranga Club.
Each club provides both a boys and girls team of two for each age group (11, 12, 13, 14 & 15). Each team plays doubles against each other Club (round robin). Matches are 25 minutes in length and use table tennis scoring. Points are allocated for a win and all points from all matches added up to find the overall winning tennis club.
